Backgammon Checker Exposure Strategy

Backgammon checker exposure strategy summary points:

  • Exposing your checkers early in the game allows you to build a strong offense or defense.
  • The more anchors you control in your opponent's home board, the more confidently you may play.
  • Beware of exposure if your opponent's home board becomes stronger than yours.
  • Restrict the number of blots (single checkers) to four or less.
  • If you are ahead, limit your exposure to uphold your lead.

Leaving your checkers exposed early in the game, allows you to establish a strong offense or defense.

The more anchors you control in your opponent's home board, the more confidently you may play.

However, beware of exposure if your opponent's home board becomes stronger than yours later in the game. The more home board points he has, the harder it will be for you to recover after being hit.

Even if your opponent's board is weak, restrict the number of blots (single checkers) to four or less.

If you are considerably ahead of your opponent, limit your exposure to uphold your lead.
