Whatcome Dispute Resolution Center Announces Charitable Backgammon Event
On April 28th, 2009, in collaboration with Boundary Bay Brewery, the Whatcome Dispute Resolution Center or WDRC, announce that it is hosting its first yearly "Compete for a Cause" Backgammon Tournament on May 30th, 2009, Saturday (9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) in the Boundary Bay Brewery Beer Garden.
The Backgammon Tournament will be a good chance for novice backgammon and experienced backgammon players alike to have fun, showcase their skill, enjoy the drinks and the food and support peacemaking efforts in Whatcom County. All of the proceeds from the event would benefit the nonprofit organization WDRC. Registration for the tournament is now open. Forms are available at whatcomdrc.org, at Boundary Bay or at the WDRC at 13 Prospect Street.
Early registration for the event is encouraged as other Compete for a Cause events have sold out early. Event registration is $25 per individual or $30 with lunch. All ages are welcome to participate in the event.
Those who have experience in the Doubling Cube can register for the advanced event; all others are welcome to register for the general event. Executive Director Moonwater encourages backgammon enthusiasts to join them for this event because this is a good opportunity to enjoy the game and at the same time help a good cause.
