The 2010 Strawberry Hill High Stakes Backgammon Event
At this year's 2010 Strawberry Hill High Stakes Backgammon Tournament set to begin this weekend, twenty-two backgammon players from all over the world will battle it out to take home a big portion of the nearly $2 million in cash and prizes.
Reigning Strawberry Hill High Stakes Backgammon Champion Alastair MacBeath is back in Jamaica to defend his title last year and battle it out with other top backgammon players in Jamaica. This year is the 5th edition of the tournament and it is sure to bring excitement, action and suspense.
The activities for the event started on April 16th, 2010 with participants warming up with the usual pre-Game day tournament for which the champion will take home the Dickie Johnson Memorial Trophy.
The official Strawberry Hill tournament competition begins 10:00 a.m. sharp on April 17th, 2010 with preliminary rounds conducted all throughout the day finishing at 6:00 p.m. sharp.
The knock-out stage of the tournament will resume the following day with final rounds scheduled throughout the day with the final heats happening between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The tournament culminates with a gala prize awarding ceremony on the primary lawns of Strawberry Hill in St. Andrew at 4:30 p.m.
