Backgammon Masters Help Chinese Earthquake Victims

On June 13th, 2008, internet backgammon site, Backgammon Masters is helping to remodel the face of the Internet gaming industry through its kind hearted charitable endeavors. Usually, online gaming sites are viewed as opportunistic gambling organizations that have no interest in promoting social concern. The backgammon site is giving a big portion of its profits towards the victims of the devastating earthquake in China that happened on May 12th, 2008 which has killed almost 87,000 people and has left millions of people homeless.

The online gaming site has launched a series of charity gambling events like backgammon, blackjack and poker events where the entire cash prize is given to UNICEF to help the agency with their efforts to rescue and help child victims of the China earthquake as well as make sure that they will be well provided for. Backgammon Masters has also generously committed to match $5 for every $1 donated to the tournaments.

Although online sites are not usually connected with social responsibility, it is not uncommon for online gaming operators to help during times of need. An example is when Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mississippi gulf coast; a lot of online casinos immediately give assistance to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
